Unbroken Spirit

28" x 22"

This piece of art was created in homage to the fighting spirit of the Greek goddess Andromeda (after whom is named a constellation and galaxy). Andromeda, was the beautiful daughter of King Cepheus and Queen Cassiope. Cassiope offended another group of greek gods by boasting that her daughter Andromeda was more beautiful than they, so in revenge Poseidon sent a sea monster to devastate Cepheus’ kingdom. Andromeda is stripped and chained naked to a rock as a sacrifice to sate the monster, but is saved from death by her instinct to survive and the Greek god Perseus. (Just your typical love story – right!) Well it’s’ Andromedas strength and resistance that I wanted to pay tribute; she was a survivor who’s fighting spirit I admire. Layers of acrylic paint and a beautiful black frame complete this piece.
