Inspired by Joan Baez’s poignant song “The Last Leaf,” this painting began as a reflection on aging, but gradually became something more hopeful. The solitary golden leaf came to symbolize not an ending, but the quiet resilience of a life that continues to grow, create, and shine through every season. Layered textures suggest memories, time, and the experiences that shape us, while the light-catching leaf reminds us that beauty is not diminished by the passing years. Sometimes our greatest gift is simply to keep holding the light—for ourselves and for one another.
