One of my favorite quotes is from the philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche who said: “One must still have chaos in oneself to be able to give birth to a dancing star.” I think what he meant was that creativity and new possibilities can emerge from embracing the chaos and complexity within oneself. This idea reflects the concept that out of disorder and turmoil, something beautiful and transformative can arise. This piece was done with many layers of acrylic paint on a gallery wrapped canvas with painted sides and the use of a variety of stencils. I wanted to create a feeling of movement and excitement … my dancing star.
