This painting comes from my love of being in the woods at that in-between moment in autumn, when everything is changing at once. The white birch trees feel steady and quiet, while the falling leaves bring movement and energy to the scene.
The deer is a gentle, watchful presence—part of the forest rather than separate from it. I wanted it to feel like one of those fleeting encounters that make you stop and take notice.
More than a specific place, this piece reflects the feeling of being surrounded by color, stillness, and motion all at once—something I always carry with me after time in nature.
