Explosion of Joy

The inspiration for this piece was Beethoven’s Choral Symphony No 9, “Ode to Joy,” one of my favorites! The words of this choral piece were written by Friedrich Schiller and are incredibly joyful and speak of unity and happiness. Beethoven was inspired by Schiller’s poem and wanted to write an anthem for humanity. And so he did … 27 years after falling under the spell of Schiller’s poem!! I used layers of acrylic paint as well as stucco and glass bead mediums to create the texture. The piece floats in a yellow distressed frame.
